Artist Bio

I have showed interest and talent in Art since I was young. At Michael Power-St Joseph high school, I loved Visual Arts classes. Then I attended the Art and Art History four year program at UFT and Sheridan College. I graduated specializing in Painting and Sculpture. After I completed Teachers’ College, I qualified in Visual Arts and English, at all three divisions. I worked for thirty years at TCDSB. Then my next goal in life was to be an artist, as well as find an artists’ group. Since I retired as a teacher in 2017, I have devoted my time to producing artwork. First, I painted with the VAM artists’ group. Now I am a member of the EAG. We regularly display our artwork at the Neilson Park Creative Centre.

I mainly work in acrylic paints and mixed media, producing landscape paintings. Sometimes I create relief sculpture using found objects. My colourful, semi-abstract landscapes are inspired from my interest of travelling. I love to play with different planes, emphasizing details in the foreground. Recently, I sold my Costal Rica diptych in the last gallery show. Presently, my Azores’ trip painting is part of the EAG gallery show. I have also been inspired to create relief sculpture on canvas. Using found objects I create an abstract composition. Then the 3-D shapes are painted. I continue to enjoy my retirement creating art and displaying artworks with the delightful, talented EAG artists!
